Heating in Room 2

Today the heating in Room 2 came on. The Room 2 Tuis had some questions about why the big, red thing on the wall was hot! After lunch, we went for a walk with Mr Bill to look at the boiler and to learn about how our school is heated.
We saw the fire and Mr Bill showed us some coal and explained how the pipes are filled with water and the fire heats up the water. Then, the pipes run through the classrooms and creates heat. We also saw the chimneys with smoke coming out...that is why we could smell smoke. A great learning experience for us all!

  1. Wow - nice to hear you are all keeping warm. It was nice of Mr Bill to show you all how the heat travels around the school. It's like you all have a nice hot water bottle hanging on the wall.

Don't forget to put your shoes on Evangeline :-)

    love from Dad.
